Speech Therapy (ST) is a therapeutic practice that aims to develop a child's functional communication skills.
Speech- Language Pathologists design treatment plans for children who have challenges understanding, expressing, or articulating speech or language. Articulation is the physical production of speech sounds and language is the message being sent or received from person to person. Communication messages can be understood and expressed in many ways, including AAC (i.e., communication tablets), verbal speech, sign language, facial expressions, etc. The goal of speech therapy is to provide a child a voice so that their wants, needs, and preferences are heard.
